Bright house of the containers on the project Rubén Rivera Peede | His Dream House
Home, collected from discarded shipping containers, have traditionally attracted the attention of designers, architects and potential buyers an inexpensive real estate. Architect Ruben Rivera Peede designed a compact house Liray House of two 40-foot and three 20-foot containers. The house was built in the suburbs misfits of Santiago (Chile).
One of the main reasons for the popularity of container construction misfits in Chile became the seismic stability of buildings, but the main factor, of course, is their low price. Thus, the project Liray House took only three months at a cost to the customer in the amount of about 75,000 dollars.
Three short containers were collected living room and kitchen, and in the long equipped bedrooms with bathrooms. Containers were raised above ground level, and the resulting cellar organized as a technical floor with communications and sanitation.
Bottom of the container was cut and replaced with hardwood floors and floor covering. Original container doors steel window frames misfits and balcony doors. Contractor installed energy-efficient windows, added insulating layer of foamed cellulose on the walls and ceiling to eliminate thermal bridges and improve acoustic characteristics, and finally sheathed with plasterboard walls.
