The famous yle war cruiser named "Battlestar Galactica" is an old vessel about to be turned into a museum, while his master yle is about to retire. Journalists and politicians came to pay tribute to this old bird who once fought against the Cylons, robots designed by humans who rebelled against their creators. It is indeed a prototype fashioned, a bit cheesy compared to the new, more modern ships, armored artificial intelligences and fully automated. In this world of SF, humans have established twelve colonies through space, where they live in peace since the end of their war with the Cylons. The theme of the battle between man and machine is the heart of the series. Humans are always overwhelmed by their own technology, and creators are condemned to fight against their creatures.
In the pilot episode of the series, we witness the resumption of hostilities between humans and Cylons, after forty years of truce. Through the treachery of a man, security systems colonies are disabled, and the nuclear Apocalypse hits all the inhabited planets, while pirated vessels fall one after the other. Only the Galactica escapes the carnage and carries with it a fleet of civilian ships escaped, pursued by the army of the Cylons. These vessels are forced to flee the enemy by performing "jumps" in the hyper-space, risking every maneuver finish disintegrated due to miscalculations. On board, all survivors are in mourning (thousands of photos of missing relatives during the surprise attack on the walls bloom Galactica) and under constant tension.
The Cylons have evolved in forty years: they now have human appearances and it is difficult to distinguish them from their creators. They exist also in a few limited models (the same actor is set to play several clones of the same series Cylons), yle and some have infiltrated among the survivors. Some of them do not even know they are not human, and they are programmed to kill them despite a moment to another ... It is therefore primarily a paranoid series, where fine line between humanity, not humanity, and inhumanity.
A vast gallery of characters extends from the warhead and fleet policy to simple drivers, through technicians and scientists. This little world is changing in vessels that do not resemble those of Star Wars, but rather to submarines where claustrophobia is required. yle The few thousands of lives have survived the Cylon attack roam through space in search of the planet Earth, not knowing if this promised land is a myth or a reality. The president of the latter sample of human beings, the only survivor of the Government and simple education minister, finds itself facing multiple dilemmas yle and countless challenges: it must accept or reject martial law? she must sacrifice a thousand lives to save all others? Should yle outlaw abortion in a world where life is more precious than ever, she has always fought for this fundamental right? how to avoid riots, treat criminals and prisoners? where to find water, and air, and food to survive in space? how to keep and give hope when all seems lost?
Many political yle issues, social and philosophical are thus treated during the four seasons of the series. Far from the clichés of the genre, Battlestar Galactica emancipated and takes a rare density for a series of SF, both in the subjects it covers and its form: the camera does not focus on special effects, fighting in space and the action scenes, it sticks on the contrary to humans, to their faces, to the oppressive narrowness metallic corridors yle and artificial lights. The audience holds its breath in the universe where life is more fragile than ever, and some episodes with outstanding play so they are almost unbearable. Fortunately, multiple romances and impossible love (including between human e
